Guwahati: Nine members of the newly formed insurgent outfit United Liberation of Bodoland (ULB) have been arrested by the Assam police from Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in lower Assam.
According to Special Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh, a large number of documents including demand notes, a list of cadres and grenades have been recovered in the police searches.
“Operations against ULB shall continue. Any form of terrorism has to be firmly handled,” Singh added.
In an operation, a team of Addl. Superintendent of Police (SP-HQ) Baksa, Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Tamulpur, and Officer-in-charge (OC) Goreswar arrested one ULB cadre and a linkman.
ULB is a newly formed armed outfit in the Bodoland region of Assam. Two suspected cadres of the outfit were killed in a police encounter in Kokrajhar on September 18.
The killings evoked a protest from the locals of the area against the police action as the state government ordered an investigation into the death of two suspected insurgents.
