Assam: Congress to embark on statewide protest against price hike of essential commodities

Guwahati: The opposition Congress in Assam will embark on statewide protests from tomorrow against the spiralling prices of petrol, diesel and other essential commodities.
“As per the decision of AICC in a meeting convened on June 28, Congress president Sonia Gandhi had issued instructions to state committees to carry out a series of protests against spiralling price rise of petrol, diesel and essential commodities between July 7-17, 2021”, a statement from Assam Pradesh Congress Committee said.
A series of programmes were chalked out from July 7-17, 2021, all blocks within each district committee will organize protests maintaining Covid protocol.
A cycle rally will also be organized in cities and towns under the District Congress Committees (DCCs), which will be participated by elected party representatives of municipal corporations and office-bearers of DCC.
Signature campaign in petrol pumps will be carried out under the District Congress Committees (DCCs) as a mark of protest and awareness programme against the price rise of petrol and diesel,
