Guwahati: Amid the surge in Covid-19 cases in Assam, a total of 26 persons succumbed to the infection in the state on Thursday.
The state recorded 3,079 new COVID-19 cases out of the total 67,278 tests done on Thursday, said health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The positivity rate for the day was 4.58 percent, he said.
Out of the new cases, 1,029 cases are from the Kamrup (Metropolitan) district.
Meanwhile, the vaccine stocks are reportedly running out in the state.
Although the registration for people above 18 years began on Wednesday, it was limited to just registering the name of the beneficiary.
