Arunachal CM, two MLAs from Tawang adopts TB patients

DRCHO and other officers appealed to those on TB treatment to regularly take their medicines in time and complete the course of medicine prescribed to defeat the disease

Itanagar: Under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, all three MLAs of Tawang district, including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, have registered themselves as ‘Ni-Kshay Mitra’ by adopting the under treatment tuberculosis patients of their respective Assembly constituencies in a bid to reinvigorate the country’s fight against TB and achieve the target of eliminating the disease by 2025.

In a function organised on Saturday at Khandro Drowa Sangmo District Hospital, Tawang, the adopted TB patients on treatment received their first month’s food basket (additional nutritional support) containing 3 kg rice, 1.5 kg pulses, 250 gm edible oil, 1 kg milk powder and one tray of egg each.

Tawang District Reproductive & Child Health Officer (DRCHO) Dr Rinchin Neema handed over the food baskets to the beneficiaries in the presence of in-charge Medical Superintendent of KDS District Hospital Dr Thutan Tsering, District TB Officer (NTEP) Dr Urgen Lhamu and other staff and officials of NTEP, official sources said.

Speaking on the occasion, the DRCHO and other officers appealed to those on TB treatment to regularly take their medicines in time and complete the course of medicine prescribed to defeat the disease, and be the strong fighters to make India TB-free.
