Shillong: The Government of Meghalaya, through the Education Department and the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharti Airtel Foundation to strengthen teachers’ training and professional development through the Meghalaya Teachers Training Academy (MTTA).
The MoU was signed in the presence of Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui, Commissioner & Secretary, Vijay Kumar Mantri, Director of DERT, J. U. Kharpuri and senior officials of the Education Department.
The partnership aims to strengthen the capacity of teachers and education personnel through continuous professional development, modern teaching methodologies, technology-enabled learning and capacity building programmes. It will also support the development of a more effective and futureready teaching workforce capable of responding to the changing needs of learners.
Bharti Airtel Foundation brings experience in supporting education departments in areas including teacher and school leader capacity building, innovative teaching practices, digital learning resources and institutional strengthening.
The MoU marks an important step towards strengthening the Meghalaya Teachers Training Academy as a centre for continuous professional learning, complementing the State’s ongoing efforts to improve teacher capacity and learning outcomes.
Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui emphasised the importance of continuously upgrading the knowledge, skills and teaching practices of educators to keep pace with the rapidly changing educational and technological landscape.
The Government of Meghalaya expressed its commitment to working with partners to build a skilled, innovative and future-ready teaching workforce, ultimately contributing towards better learning opportunities and outcomes for students across the State.
