Imphal: Demonstrating their unwavering commitment to border community welfare alongside their primary security mandate, Assam Rifles personnel provided swift and critical medical assistance to a local farmer in Tengnoupal district. On 15 May 2026, 56-year-old Angom Kumar from Kwatha village in Tengnoupal district sustained severe facial and peri-orbital lacerations from a sharp bamboo splinter while undertaking agricultural work. Responding instantly to the emergency, the medical team of the force administered vital first aid to control bleeding before executing a meticulous, specialist ophthalmic intervention.
The stark contrast between the harrowing initial trauma and the post-operative recovery highlights the fantastic surgical procedure conducted by the medical team. While the before photos depicted deep, distressing lacerations threatening the eye structure, the subsequent outcomes reveal near-flawless anatomical alignment. Under sterile conditions and local anaesthesia, the team successfully sutured the delicate upper and lower eyelid injuries, ensuring that the globe remained entirely intact with absolutely no loss of vision. The precision of the intervention guarantees minimal scarring on the face, effectively restoring both function and appearance to the patient.
The individual was stabilised, provided with necessary medications, and discharged with a structured follow-up plan. This timely humanitarian intervention highlights how the force consistently looks beyond its operational commitments to deliver essential civic lifelines, directly alleviating distress for remote border populations where immediate specialised healthcare is scarce. Such dedicated efforts do not just save lives but profoundly reinforce mutual trust which was appreciated by the locals profoundly and thus fostering durable civil-military cooperation within the region.
