Imphal: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today inaugurated the Library Building of Heirangoithong High School, Imphal.
Addressing the gathering the Chief Minister stated that the Government schools in the State have witnessed significant improvement over the past five to six years. He recalled that when he was first elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Singjamei Assembly Constituency, Singjamei Chingamakha High School had very few students. However, the school now has an enrolment of more than 200 students. He further noted that of the 15 students of the school who appeared for the State board examinations, 12 secured first division, reflecting the steady improvement.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that Heirangoithong High School, which was once not considered a well-performing school, has witnessed remarkable improvement. He attributed this progress to the State Government’s education policies, the dedicated efforts of the teaching staff, and the formation of a committee for the school’s development. He noted that these collective initiatives have resulted in a significant increase in student enrolment, with nearly 150 students now attending the school.
He maintained that the school’s infrastructure needs to be further enhanced to encourage more parents to enrol their children in Government schools.
Later, the Chief Minister visited Singjamei Chingamakha High School at Singjamei Chingamakha Phuramakhong, Imphal West district, where he inspected the ongoing construction works on the school campus.
The inaugural function was attended by Neeta Arambam, Secretary Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC); Shri Ng. Bhogendra Meitei, Director of Education (Schools); O. Jamuna Devi, Headmistress, Heirangoithong High School; members of the School Management Committee; teachers and students among others.
