Gangtok: Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad on Thursday greeted the people on the occasion of Losoong and Namsoong festivals.
Losing and Namsoong festivals mark the end of the harvesting season and are observed by the Buddhist community, further marking the start of the Sikkimese New Year.
“Festivals like Losoong & Namsoong safeguard our unique culture and identity and also mark an occasion when the solidarity among people and culture binds the people together. I urge the people of Sikkim to preserve and promote the local culture,” said the Governor.
“May this occasion enrich our composite culture and bring greater peace, prosperity and harmony among all the Sikkimese people,” he added.
