Itanagar: Mobile internet services in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district, including the district headquarters Yingkiong have remained disrupted for the last three days, official sources said on Monday.
The sources informed that Airtel mobile towers have been damaged due to rain triggered massive landslides at several points near Simang in neighbouring Siang district. The Siang belt, along with other parts of the hilly state, has been experiencing moderate to heavy rains for the past several days.
As Airtel is the main mobile service provider in the Upper Siang district due to its breakdown, most
of the government offices, business communities and general public are badly affected, the District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO) of East Siang district quoted her Upper Siang counterpart as saying.
Meanwhile, landslides triggered by incessant rainfall snapped road connectivity between Bhalukpong (in West Kameng district) and Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, officials said.
Three vehicles, including an oil tanker, were washed away by flash floods and mud slips. The incident happened when the vehicles were crossing the block point at 46km point near Lumum waterfall, police said, adding that the drivers of the vehicles escaped unhurt.
