Heroin, weapon & cash seized from 3 traffickers in Meghalaya

Shillong:  Meghalaya police on Tuesday seized 108 grams of heroin, one pistol with four rounds of live ammunition from three drug traffickers, including a woman in West Jaintia Hills district, a police official said. 

The trio were arrested from Ialong Park in Jowai, the district headquarters of West Jaintia Hills after their two vehicles were waylaid by sleuths of State’s Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF), Bikram D. Marak, the district police chief, said. 

Nine soap boxes and one bottle stuffed with heroin, one 7.65mm pistol with magazine and four live rounds of ammunition, one dagger and cash amounting to Rs 4 lakh besides three mobile phones were seized from the drug trafficker’s possession, the police official said. 

A gypsy bearing registration number ML 05J 3334 and a local cab ML 05K 2087 which was used in transporting the contraband and weapon has also been seized. 

He said the heroin and weapon consignment were brought from Shillong and to be delivered in Jowai. 

“We are still interrogating the trio and nothing much can shared now,” Marak said.
