BJP’s assets worth Rs 4874 cr in 2019-20, BSP 2nd with Rs 698 cr

The assets declared by Political Parties fall under 6 major heads: fixed assets, loans & advances, FDR/ deposits, TDS, Investments and other assets.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared assets worth Rs. 4874 crore in 2019-20, highest among national parties, with the Bahujan Samaj Party emerging to be a distant second with assets worth Rs 698 crore.

According to a report by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), Congress was third, declaring assets worth Rs. 588 crore, followed by Communist party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) with assets worth 569 crore. Trinamool Congress declared assets worth Rs. 247 crore, Communist Party of India – Rs. 29 crore and Nationalist Congress Party, with assets worth Rs. 8 crore.

The assets declared by Political Parties fall under 6 major heads: fixed assets, loans & advances, FDR/ deposits, TDS, Investments and other assets.

Among National Parties, BJP and BSP declared highest assets under FDR/Fixed Deposits, Rs 3253.00 crore and Rs 618.86 crore while Congress declared the highest assets under FDR/Fixed Deposits, Rs. 240.90 crore for the financial year 2019-20.

In the 2019-20, among the Regional Parties, the highest assets were declared by SP worth Rs 563.47 crore, followed by TRS worth Rs 301.47 crore and AIADMK worth Rs 267.61 crore.

Fixed Deposits/FDR constituted the largest share of Rs 1639.51 cr (76.99 percent) of the total assets declared by Regional Parties in the 2019-20. Among Regional Parties, political parties such as SP (Rs 434.219 cr), TRS (Rs 256.01 crore), AIADMK (Rs 246.90 crore), DMK (Rs 162.425 crore), Shivsena (Rs 148.46 crore), BJD (Rs 118.425 crore) among others declared highest assets under FDR/Fixed Deposits.
