Arunachal Deputy Chief Minister tests COVID positive

The Deputy Chief Minister requested all those who got in touch with him in the last few days, to isolate themselves and get themselves tested, as a precautionary measure.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, he disclosed on social media.

The virus was detected through a rapid antigen test (RAT).

The Deputy Chief Minister requested all those who got in touch with him in the last few days, to isolate themselves and get themselves tested, as a precautionary measure.

Informing about his health on micro-blogging site Twitter, Mein wrote: “Today, I got myself tested for Covid through RAT and was found positive. I have got mild symptoms but (am) doing well with no other problem. I request all those who came into contact with me in the last few days to isolate themselves and get their Covid test done.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pema Khandu wished his Deputy Chowna Mein a speedy recovery.

“Get well soon @ChownaMeinBJP ji, our prayers are with you for a speedy recovery,” Khandu tweeted.

Earlier on January 8, the Deputy Chief Minister had tweeted that he came in close contact with Secretary Transport, Dani Salu, who had tested Covid positive the previous day. Mein also suggested that all those who had come in contact with him (Secretary Transport) in the last 5-6 days get their Covid test done.

“As a precautionary measure following COVID protocol, I will be in-home isolation from today and will have my covid test done after 5 days i.e. on 13th January’ 2022,” he had stated.

Arunachal Pradesh has been witnessing a rapid rise in COVID-19 cases for the past few days. The Northeastern state at present has 222 active cases – 206 more than the count the state had on January 2.
