Guwahati: Assam recorded 988 covid cases in total with a positivity rate 6.48 per cent. Apart from this, Kamrup Metro has recorded 490 of the total 988 cases alone.
There were no reports of any new cases of the Omicron in the state, according to a health official report. Assam currently has strict norms to contain the virus which includes a 10 pm-6 am curfew.
Along with the curfew, workplaces have been encouraged to work with 50 per cent capacity along with work from home.
Meanwhile, Assam started a precautionary third dose of COVID-19 vaccines for healthcare workers, frontline workers, and immune-compromised seniors today. In Guwahati, the booster doses were being given to the senior citizens above 60 with comorbidities, and health and frontline workers at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
Those above the age of 60 years who have co-morbidities like diabetes, hypertension and other chronic ailments have the option of getting the precaution dose on the advice of their doctor.
Those eligible for booster shots will, however, get them only 9 months after receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
