Imphal: Gunmen shot dead two persons, including an aide to Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi, in Manipur’s Imphal West District, police said on Monday.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Lukhoi visited the area and met the families of the victims. The Chief Minister vowed to get the killers.
The two victims were Abujam John and Abujam Tomba. Both resided in Samurou, where they were killed on Sunday.
Protesters blocked roads and burnt tyres as well as wood in the area after the twin murder.
Violence has increased recently in Manipur, which will hold Assembly elections on February 27 and March 3.
