Nagaland Election Dept signs accord with Postal Dept

According to official sources Tuesday by using Speed Post services, the Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) and important notices will reach the voter in a safe, time-bound and efficient manner. The MoU is being operationalised with immediate effect.

Kohima: As directed by the Election Commission of India, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Post (DoP), represented by the Postmaster-General (PMG) of NE-II Region in Dimapur Som Kamei and the Chief Electoral
Officer of Nagaland V. Shashank Shekhar in the office chamber of the Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland, on delivery of Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) and various Notices through Speed Post services of DoP on mutually agreed-upon terms.

According to official sources Tuesday by using Speed Post services, the Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) and important notices will reach the voter in a safe, time-bound and efficient manner. The MoU is being operationalised with immediate effect.

On the occasion of signing the MoU, the Department of Post represented by the Superintendent of Post Razouzakie Phinuo and his team of officers expressed the hope and assurance that DoP
will ensure delivery of EPICs to the right person on time. He expressed gratitude to ECI and DoP for this opportunity to serve society.

The CEO, Nagaland and his team of officers expressed happiness at this special initiative of ECI and DoP which will especially benefit the common people in the State. The MoU will be valid for five years with effect from the date of signing it and will be extendable subject to the terms and conditions to be mutually agreed upon by both the parties at the time of each extension.

The PMG will provide facilities available under the Speed Post service including booking, transmission and door delivery of all Speed Post articles containing EPICs and Notices to the concerned voter, sources said.
