New Delhi: Assam BJP chief spokesperson Kamakhya Prasad Tasa on Saturday slammed the state Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and demanded an apology from him.
“BJP Assam condemns the remark made by the Assam Congress chief Bhupen Borah against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during campaigning of by-polls,” Tasa said here on Saturday.
The Rajya Sabha MP from Assam has alleged that Borah had called Chief Minister Sarma “goonda” (goon), and warned him to refrain from making any such comments against leaders of the ruling BJP and its allies.
Attacking Borah, the BJP MP from Assam said, “It shows his (Borah’s) mindset. He should refrain from using such word against BJP and its allies. He should apologise for his remark.”
He also took a dig at Opposition Congress and said, “It would take 30 more years for Congress to come into power in Assam.”
Voting is underway for five Assembly constituencies of the Assembly by-election in Assam. The five seats are Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Moriani and Thowra.
