Shillong: Meghalaya’s opposition Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday said that the attack on innocent people and damage to property during FKJGP’s rally on Friday was because “youngsters” took law into their hand as they have lost hope.

“The youngsters who protested yesterday against unemployment expressed their loss of hope by taking up law in their own hands,” Leader of Opposition, Dr. Mukul Sangma said.

“It is a clear warning sign, and hence we need to be careful,” In a three line statement, the former Chief Minister warned.

Mukul also described Friday’s violence in the state capital as “saddest moment in the history of Meghalaya.” Several people were assaulted and vehicles damaged by the rallyists who took part on the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People sponsored unemployment rally.
