Imphal: The Manipur government Thursday said that it’s been doing everything to end the violent ethnic crisis in the state and added that there is no negligence or ignorance in the event of any casualty of its citizens.

Moreover, there are incidents of wrong reports spreading around regarding the ongoing crisis in the state which need to be verified, government spokesperson and also IPR Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh said while clarifying to some media reports that MLA Vungzagin Valte who has been undergoing treatment in a Delhi hospital after a mob assaulted him at the beginning of the crisis in May last has been ignored by the state government.

While strongly condemning the violent attack on its MLA, the Minister said the government has never forgotten Valte and all the necessary facilities and services have been provided.

“The unwanted incident on the MLA took place on May 4.  The state government with its all efforts instantly rushed and admitted him at RIMS Hospital for first aid,” Dr Ranjan said and added that on the same night, the legislator was airlifted by a special chartered flight arranged by the state government to a Delhi hospital for further treatment. The MLA was seen off by two ministers to the airport.

All expenditures of his treatment will be borne by the state government. The Government has been keeping in touch with the hospital authority regarding the health status of the MLA, the minister added.

Dr Ranjan shared his sympathy with the family and also prayed for a speedy recovery of his health and to come back to public service for the state soon.

Valte, 61, a third-time legislator from Thanlon constituency, is an adviser to Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on tribal affairs. He is among the first victims of the present Meitei-Kuki conflicts that have claimed over 150 people and over 4000 houses belonging on both sides have been burnt.

Earlier, his son, Joseph Valte, claimed that till now no one from the party had either visited or called them.
