Thoubal:  Underscoring its deep-rooted commitment to humanitarian service and community solidarity, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Red Cross Society, Lions Club Thoubal Greater Centurion and the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors Manipur, successfully organised a comprehensive voluntary blood donation and medical camp today. Held at the Unit Hospital in Thoubal district to mark World Blood Donor Day 2026, the initiative operated under the profound national campaign theme, “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood, Save Lives”. The drive seamlessly merged critical medical aid with voluntary life-giving contributions to reinforce the local healthcare framework and replenish emergency reserves.

The camp witnessed an overwhelming response from both civil society and security forces, driven by the shared philosophy that a single drop of blood reflects the collective responsibility of humanity. Over 73 stakeholders, including 68 dedicated uniformed personnel, voluntarily donated blood under the strict supervision of specialised medical teams from the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, located in Imphal West district, and the State Blood Transfusion Council.

Concurrently, the adjacent medical camp provided essential healthcare check-ups and medical assistance to local residents and personnel, successfully addressing immediate emergency vulnerabilities of around 90 participants. The significant humanitarian outreach was further elevated by the joint monitoring of prominent health administrators and social workers, including Dr AK Brogen Singh, Dr Jotin Okram, L Sanatombi Devi, Y Guneshwari Devi and L Pratap Singh. By channeling these vital resources directly into regional blood banks and providing accessible diagnostics, the collaborative drive has substantially bolstered medical emergency preparedness while fostering an enduring bond of trust and compassion across the community.
