Shillong: The Meghalaya government has appointed additional Chief Secretary Donald Phillips Wahlang as the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL), an official said on Tuesday.
He replaced Rebecca Vanessa Suchiang, who has been elevated to the post of Chief Secretary of the State.
Wahlang, the 1993 batch IAS officer will also look after the Home (Police) and Home (Political).
Principal Secretary Dr Shakil Ahamed who has been from Mining and Geology department has been appointed as Principal Secretary to the Power department. He will also continue as Principal Secretary Water Resources department.
State Director School Education and Literacy Ambrose Ch. Marak has also been appointed as Director Corporate Affairs, MeECL and its three subsidiaries viz Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited, Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation Limited and Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited.
Marak shall also function as Secretary Personnel and AR department.
Cyril V. Darlong Diengdoh who has been relieved as Director Corporate Affairs, MeECL and its three subsidiaries viz Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited, Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation Limited and Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited shall now Secretary Law department and Legal Remembrancer besides Secretary Parliamentary Affairs department.
