Imphal: The State Home Department has warned that vehicles of any other person who is not on the list of dignitaries found sporting the flag post will be immediately impounded and a fine of Rs 5000 imposed.
The Department in an order issued on Tuesday stated that flag post vehicles can only be used by certain dignitaries who are officially allowed to fly the national flag in their vehicles.
As per the order, this action has been necessitated because of the misuse of the flag posts by anti-national elements like insurgent groups and anti-social elements like smugglers to pose as government officials to evade stoppage and checking by the police and other authorized officials.
This has become a major security and law and order concern, the order added.
