Shillong: Two COVID-19 related deaths that of un-vaccinated persons increased the fatality count to 1,467 and 33 new cases of infection added up to 271 active cases, even as 26 more persons recovered from the viral disease, surging the number of recovered cases to 82,412 on Thursday in Meghalaya, which has registered 84,150 confirmed cases so far, health officials said.
Of the new COVID-19 cases, the maximum number of 28 was reported from the East Khasi Hills, which, including state capital Shillong is the most pandemic-hit district with 194 active cases and 994 deaths, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said.
He said three new cases were in West Khasi Hills district and two in West Garo Hills district.
War said the two fatalities were reported in East Khasi Hills district.
Of the 11,86,980 persons tested for COVID-19 across the State till Thursday, 11,02,830 persons were tested negative for the virus, official data reflected.
As of date, 32,084 health care workers have received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 and 28,618 have been administered with the second dose, 96,968 front-line workers have got the first jab and 81,910 have taken the second shot, 1,007,116 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 6,37,380 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose.
