Two COVID-19 deaths, 425 new positive cases recorded in Meghalaya

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said the COVID-19 related deaths recorded were one each in East Khasi Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.
Of the 425 new COVID-19 infections, the senior medical official said on 121 cases were detected in West Garo Hills district, 91 in East Khasi Hills district, 71 in Ri-Bhoi district, 50 in West Jaintia Hills district, 23 in East Garo Hills district, 15 in West Khasi Hills district, 12 in South West Khasi Hills district, 11 in North Garo Hills district, 10 in East Jaintia Hills district, eight in South West Khasi Hills district and seven in South Garo Hills district.
The East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong is the most COVID-19 affected district with 1,334 active cases and 661 deaths due to the viral infection, followed by Ri-Bhoi district with 887 active cases, West Garo Hills district with 640 active cases and West Jaintia Hills district with 527 active cases while the seven other districts of the State have less than 300 active cases each, he said.
As on date, 31,191 health care workers have been vaccinated against COVID-19 with the first dose and 20, 244 received the second dose, 96, 928 frontline-workers got the first jab and 27, 731 got the second shot, while 5,83,914 persons from among the general public were inoculated with the first dose and 49,511 are fully vaccinated with the second dose across the state.
