Agartala: Assam police have foiled abduction bid of two schoolgirls of North Tripura who were allegedly allured with false promise by two youth of Dharmanagar of the district and police arrested both the accused persons.
According to the report, the girls from the Krishnapur and Radhapur area of Dharmanagar had left for school on Dec 4 last but they did not return home. The parents had searched all possible places and later informed the Dharma agar Women Police Station.
Police got to know that the girls were taken to Assam with a false promise of love affairs by Jitendra Shabdakar and Kajal Das of the locality.
However, reportedly they had planned to sell the girls to a prostitution racket at Silchar. Immediately, Tripura police took up the matter with its Assam counterpart and a joint operation was launched in Barak Valley of South Assam from Dec 6 last.
Meantime both the girls got suspicious about the intentions of the youths and somehow managed to flee away from their hideout at Bazaricherra area of Karimganj district. They took shelter in a police outpost escaping from the clutches of the miscreants and subsequently were rescued by Assam police.
Later on last night based on the information of the victim girls, police arrested Jitendra and Kajal from a house of Bazaricherra. Both the accused youths and the victim girls have been brought to Dharmanagar and the accused persons admitted that they planned to sell the girls in Silchar.
