Shillong: The National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong successfully organised it’s Graduation Show 2026, today celebrating the academic achievements, creativity and professional accomplishments of the graduating students across various disciplines.
The Graduation Show serves as a prestigious platform showcasing the culmination of years of academic learning, creative exploration and practical industry engagement undertaken by the graduating students of NIFT Shillong. The exhibition reflects the diverse experiences, design perspectives and professional exposure gained by students through their 16-week graduation project and collaborations with leading organisations and professionals across India.
Speaking on the occasion, Frederick Roy Kharkongor, Principal Secretary, Department of Textiles, Govt. of Meghalaya, emphasised the importance of nurturing creative talent and strengthening collaboration between education, industry and regional development through design innovation and entrepreneurship. He appreciated the blend of craft, culture and heritage showcased at the event and expressed satisfaction over the growing collaboration between the Government of Meghalaya and National Institute of Fashion Technology under the leadership of Dr. Brijesh Deore.
Prof. Nalini Prava Tripath, Director, IIM Shillong highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership in shaping future creative professionals.
The Campus Director of NIFT Shillong, Dr. Brijesh Deore stated that the Graduation Show reflects the institute’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and industry-oriented learning, while congratulating the graduating students and wishing them success in their future endeavours.
Reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of design education at NIFT Shillong, various academic departments presented innovative projects and collections demonstrating creativity, research, sustainability, craftsmanship and industry engagement across diverse domains of fashion and design.
The Department of Fashion Communication presented its Graduation Show 2026 under the theme ‘Communique’, reflecting the evolving language of design, storytelling and visual communication in contemporary society. A total of 23 students showcased projects in branding, visual design, spatial experiences, photography, digital communication and interdisciplinary creative practices.
The Department of Fashion & Lifestyle Accessory Design celebrated the achievements of 20 graduating students who completed projects across diverse specialisations in collaboration with leading organisations and brands across the country.
The Department of Textile Design showcased the work of 25 graduating students who undertook graduation projects with prominent companies and design houses, highlighting innovation, sustainability and contemporary textile practices.
The Department of Fashion Management Studies marked the successful completion of the Master of Fashion Management programme by 22 students. Their projects covered areas such as Fashion Retail and Merchandising, Brand Management and Marketing, E-commerce and Digital Strategy, Supply Chain and Operations, and Sourcing and Product Development.
The Department of Fashion Design showcased the work of 30 graduating students, including 6 Design Collections and 24 Graduation Projects. The collections reflected innovation, craftsmanship, contemporary aesthetics and strong industry relevance. The graduating students also secured placements and professional engagements with prominent fashion brands and designers.
Teachers and students from Hill View Secondary School and Seven Set Secondary School attended the Graduation Show 2026 as part of National Institute of Fashion Technology’s outreach initiative to promote awareness about design education and career opportunities in the creative industries. The students also interacted with the Campus Director, faculty members and students of NIFT Shillong.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from industry professionals, academicians, alumni and guests, celebrating creativity, innovation and emerging design leadership from Northeast India.
