Agartala: The Additional Sessions Judge of Tripura’s Gomati district on Thursday sentenced a middle-aged man of Shilghati village of Kakraban to rigorous imprisonment for life with a fine of Rs 20,000 for committing rape of a woman in the same locality in January 2020.
Police said the Convict Abu Miah was charged under section 376 (1) of the Indian Penal Code.
Meanwhile, Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Kanchanpur of North Tripura has been convicted for violation of Covid19 guidelines and slapped a fine of Rs 1000 each. They were found guilty of not wearing a face cover mask during the Covid period despite repeated requests from the police.
