Agartala: The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) lashed out at BJP led government in Tripura over deteriorating law and order situation and increasing incidences of crime on women.

TPCC president Pijush Kanti Biswas alleged that the weak governance of the state home department under Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb was responsible for increasing the criminal activities in the state. The inefficient administration and whimsical acts of Chief Minister have demoralised the police rank and file, which indirectly worked as a booster for the criminals, he pointed out.

Biswas said rape, murder and abetting suicide of women, drug paddling and clashes by ruling BJP cadres become a regular phenomenon of the state now but there is hardly any action. Besides, opposition political parties, media and business community have been made a soft target of attack with the indulgence of BJP state leadership.

He expressed concern over the high incidence of corruption in the government and by the leaders of the ruling party and said, “It seems the leaders and workers of the ruling party are obsessed only with looting public money.”

He strongly deplored the awarding of state’s works to dubious firms, companies and NGOs from outside the state depriving the locals and added, “If this continues the economy of Tripura will be destroyed; there is no job for youths though the BJP promised to give jobs upon missed calls along with 299 tall promises before election but none of them are fulfilled yet.”
