Tripura BSF makes preventive arrangements for jawans returning from election duty

In the first wave of Covid-19, BSF had suffered seriously and this time the frontier authority had taken advance steps to manage the situation.

Agartala: With the returning of troops from election duty in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala, BSF Tripura frontier has established 12 Covid Care Centers fully equipped with beds, oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, oxy-meters and sufficient medicines.
The BSF officials here Wednesday said that sufficient number of senior level doctors and paramedics have been deployed in the centres along with sufficient safety kits apprehending a surge of Covid cases in the force when jawans will come back in Tripura. In the first wave of Covid-19, BSF had suffered seriously and this time the frontier authority had taken advance steps to manage the situation.
The BSF has also provisioned more than 4000 beds quarantine centres in different locations for mandatory isolation of the jawans and officers whoever is coming from outside. According to report, the troops are expected to start reaching the state from tomorrow by special trains from their respective locations and de-boarded in six locations of Tripura – Dharmanagar, Ambassa, Agartala, Bishalgarh, Udaipur and Sabroom.
As many as 50 companies consisting 3,000 BSF troops are returning back to Tripura and the authority has arranged testing facilities for all of them at their respective de-boarding stations, officials said adding that those would be found positive to be kept under Covid Care Hospitals at respective locations and all the asymptomatic returnees would be shifted to respective isolation centres.
“The persons with mild symptoms will be shifted to Covid Care Centers and those with acute illness be shifted to 100 beds dedicated Covid hospitals and if more then send them to state Covid hospital. The Covid negative personnel would be shifted to quarantine centres in separate vehicles for 15 days observation,” officials stated.
The report said BSF has administered to over19300 first dose and 5800 second doses of Covid vaccine to its jawans and around 300 family members of serving and retired/deceased persons.
