Nagaland: Dimapur DC imposes night curfew in district

Kohima: The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Task Force of Dimapur R. Soundararajan, through an order yesterday, has imposed night curfew in Dimapur district from 6 PM to 5 AM from today for the safety of public against COVID-19.

According to official sources today the DC of Dimapur has also issued directives for strict compliance by all in areas notified as containment zones in all 23 wards under the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), all colonies under the jurisdiction of Chumukedima Town Council and all colonies and villages along the Dimapur, Chumukedima four-lane road. The order shall come to force with effect from 7 PM of May 5 for a period of seven days.

The order said that all activities, including movement of persons will be prohibited in the areas under containment, except in case of the movement of goods vehicles including vehicles carrying oxygen, oxygen cylinders and other Medical equipment, agriculture & Allied activities, vegetable, fish and meat vendors, milk booths, provisional stores, tyre repair shops, bakeries, local grocery stores, including animal feed shops for public purchase may remain open from 6 AM to 2 PM. Small, stand alone shops in colonies subject to regulation by respective ward and colony authority. All health care facilities including animal healthcare, hospital clinics, nursing homes and movement of healthcare workers, all pharmacies including those selling veterinary medicines, all persons going for COVID-I9 vaccination, COVID testing and medical emergencies, all shops in market complexes and single brand malls, clothes, apparel and footwear stores shall remain closed. Multi Brand stores may remain open, provided they sell only essential items and observe all necessary COVID-19 SOPs. The necessary arrangements shall be done by the District Transport Officer, Dimapur. All gatherings are prohibited and all places of mass gatherings will remain closed including religious places, except for solemnization of weddings with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner and shall be limited up to 50 persons.

Meanwhile, Dimapur Commissioner of Police Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo has ordered that movement of all vehicles in the declared containment zones under Dimapur district will be allowed to ply on Odd-Even system with effect from 7 PM of today for a period seven days. All those under exempted categories have been asked to carry their ID cards at all times issued by the respective heads, Official reports said.
