Agartala: Tripura state election commission on Friday announced the schedule for holding election to 334 constituencies of urban local bodies including Agartala Municipal Corporation on November 25 next.
The state election commissioner M L Dey said that the poll notification would be issued on October 27 next and the last date of receiving nomination for the election is scheduled on November 3 followed by scrutiny on November 5 and withdrawal on November 8 next.
“The election will be held between 0700-1600 hrs on November 25 and if required the fresh will be taken on November 27 and counting will be held on November 28. The election process will be completed by formation of new councils in the urban bodies before December 4 next,”
Dey stated.
Over 5.94 lakh electorates would exercise their franchise on EVM following Covid-19 guidelines. Besides appointing Returning officers, as many as 22 senior officials of the state government have been appointed as election observers while additional 151 civil and police officers were assigned to oversee the election process.
The term of the municipal councils expired on December 18 last year but polling was deferred due to Covid pandemic and administrators have been appointed to run the routine activities of the urban bodies.
