New Delhi: After registering a thumping victory in the recently held assembly elections in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has extended its association with Prashant Kishor’s Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) for the next five years till 2026.
This was informed by TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien here in New Delhi on Friday.
Not divulging much about the association, O’Brien said it will help the party to continue its winning streak for upcoming elections, including Lok Sabha in 2024.
“The modalities of IPAC’s association with TMC are being formalised,” he added. The announcement comes as the TMC is eying a greater role in national politics in the next general elections.
With 24 MPs, it is the second largest Opposition party in Lok Sabha after Congress.
I-PAC had played a significant role in securing a third term for TMC in West Bengal, winning 213 seats in the 294-member West Bengal Assembly.
