Chandel: In an effort to foster environmental consciousness and promote community wellness, Assam Rifles organised a series of civic action and youth engagement initiatives in Chandel district on 24 and 25 September 2026. Bringing together school children and residents from surrounding villages, the activities focused on health awareness, environmental conservation and constructive social engagement.
As part of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan, Assam Rifles conducted a comprehensive cleanliness and health drive at Sajik Tampak in Chandel district on 24 and 25 September 2026. The initiative witnessed the participation of 30 students from Government High School, Sajik Tampak, alongside local villagers and 15 personnel of Assam Rifles. Participants carried out drive across various locations in the locality, clearing waste and unwanted materials to enhance hygiene. The drive was followed by a tree plantation activity involving school children to encourage green surroundings. To curb vector-borne health risks, anti-malaria fogging was also undertaken in identified areas, sensitising residents on proper waste disposal practices and preventative health measures.
Concurrently, a friendly volleyball match was organised at Yangoubung in Chandel district on 24 September 2026, bringing together 15 civilians and 10 personnel of the Force. The sporting event saw participation from residents of Yangoubung, TS Laijang, D Zalenbung, and Thingphai villages. The match provided an interactive platform for the local youth and security personnel to display sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition, concluding with informal interactions that reinforced mutual trust and cooperation across the region.
