Imphal:Building on the high-spirited momentum of the preceding fixtures at the Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium, Day Eight of the 3rd Director General Assam Rifles Hockey Cup 2026 witnessed five exciting encounters, organised by Assam Rifles under the aegis of Manipur Hockey. With the tournament steadily approaching its business end, teams in both the Men’s and Women’s divisions displayed competitive spirit, tactical discipline and attacking intent as they battled for crucial points ahead of the knockout stage.
KEY DAY EIGHT MATCH RESULTS
Morning Session:
Women’s Pool: YCCIC registered a hard-fought 5–3 victory over TWC in an engaging opening encounter.
Men’s Pool: SSB produced a dominant attacking display to defeat TWC 9–1, asserting their superiority in the fixture.
Afternoon Session:
Women’s Pool: THA and EYDC played out an intense contest, with both sides sharing the honours after a 3–3 draw.
Men’s Pool: ARMY XI put up a commanding performance to secure a convincing 6–1 victory over HC.
Men’s Pool: The day concluded with a dominant display by COS, who defeated SEYO 8–0 in the final encounter of the day.
TOURNAMENT PROGRESS
With the tournament entering its final pool-stage stretch, the competition across both Men’s and Women’s divisions is intensifying. Out of the 30 scheduled pool fixtures, 26 matches have been completed, with only four matches remaining before the knockout stage and Championship Final.
Organised by Assam Rifles from 18 to 28 September 2026, the 3rd DG Assam Rifles Hockey Cup continues to draw enthusiastic local spectator support at Imphal. Beyond competitive sport, the tournament remains an important initiative to promote grassroots hockey in Manipur, encourage physical fitness and discipline among youth, and provide a structured platform for regional players to showcase their talent on a prominent sporting stage.
