Strict mask enforcement begins in Tripura

Agartala: The Tripura government has reinforced the Covid protocol for all citizens from the New Year to contain the spread of Covid-19 following threat of the new variant Omicron, the Mission Director of the National Health Mission, Dr Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal said on Saturday.

A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Kumar Alok and Director General of Police V S Yadav decided to implement specific measures including compulsory wearing of masks or face cover in public places, crowded areas, in markets, in all workplaces and offices and during travelling.

If any violation is noticed, the DMs, Collectors, SPs, Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation atuld impose fines on the violators and undertake panel action as per law, he stated.

List of passengers arriving from the high risk countries should be shared with the Police headquarters and all SPs for strict monitoring of their mandatory home quarantine.

The Health department has intensified testing by activating additional teams in the health centres besides at the airport, all railway stations, and integrated check-posts. 

The time-bound action plan has been drawn to ensure cent percent vaccination to the 18–year plus age group along with vaccination of 15-18 year olds and booster dose for the 60 years and above population, Dr Jaiswal added.
