Stranded passengers evacuated by Assam Rifles in Assam

A team of 50 personnel of Assam Rifles including a medical officer rushed to Haflong and Jatinga railway stations, where 135 stranded passengers were provided with medical assistance, food packets and water.

Kohima: Quickly responding to the request of the civil administration, troops of Assam Rifles in Halflong, Assam quickly responded to evacuate and transport the stranded rail passengers at Haflong, Jatinga and Harangajao Railway Stations to Silchar, due to the derailment of a goods train engine near Jatinga in Assam. 

A team of 50 personnel of Assam Rifles including a medical officer rushed to Haflong and Jatinga railway stations, where 135 stranded passengers were provided with medical assistance, food packets and water. 

Concurrently, Assam Rifles also facilitated the transport of these stranded passengers in 10 vehicles to Silchar/ Harangajao. The passengers’ movements started from Haflong at 3:30 pm and were dispatched to Silchar. 

The passengers and Railway officials thanked Assam Rifles for their prompt assistance, according to a press note from the PRO (Defence), Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh
