Imphal: Kangpokpi District Police Traffic Control Wing (TCW) under the supervision of PG Singsit, SP, Kangpokpi Monday started traffic regulation and enforcement of Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019 with the return of traffic personnel who were trained with SP Traffic in Imphal.
As many as 40 persons who violated traffic rules were detained and educated on road safety and later released. Challaning of the violators will begin soon. Enforcement of the Act is initiated in Kangpokpi District Headquarters and will soon be extended to other major towns like Motbung, Sapormeina, Saikul, KMC (Champhai), among others. Informing that the road safety drive will go on, the district police urged the public, CSOs & stakeholders to cooperate, stating that it is for the interest of the public only.
It may be recalled that TCW was set up in November 2020 with a view to ensuring the safety of people in the district especially along the two National Highways passing through Kangpokpi district. To begin with, 15 personnel including two officers were sent for training in December 2020 with SP Traffic in Imphal. Another batch of 50 strong personnel are also currently undergoing training with SP Traffic in Imphal.
