Six arrested with drugs, other items in Manipur

Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused persons are a part of an interstate drug trafficking network and the drugs were handed over to them from Myanmar side at Moreh border to be transported to Guwahati, as per a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.

Imphal: As a part of continuous and surprise frisking and checking in different districts of Manipur, to check the illicit trafficking of drugs and contraband items along different routes, a team of NAB-PS including lady constables, conducted surprise checking of suspected vehicles at Tangjeng area, Thoubal District, Manipur on Sunday, February 20. 

At around 03:30 pm, six persons were arrested on the spot. They are Md. Abdur Rahman (45yrs) son of Md. Talibur Rahman of Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi; Th. Abigail (38yrs) wife of Md. Abdur Rahman (45yrs) of Lilong  Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi; Rekibuddin Ahamed (43yrs) son of  Md. Rafiquddin Ahmed of Arohan Path, H/No.-22, Gandhibasti, Silpukhuri: Guwahati; Md. Ajmir Hussain (43yrs) son of Md. Rahimuddin of Lilong Houreibi Sambrukhong;  Ngaoni Deep (27yrs) son of L.H. Lemo of Thingba Khullen village, Tadubi and Law Pouro (27yrs) son of Dhrii Law of Rikhumai, Taphou village

From their possession, 30 packets (300,000) of WY (Methamphetamine) tablets drugs weighing altogether 34 Kg including the weight of the packing material, Maruti Suzuki SX4 (silver colour) bearing Registration No. MN 06LA 7947 with a registration card, Toyota Fortuner (white colour) bearing Registration No.MN 06LB 50 94 along with its vehicle registration certificate, nine  Mobile phone Handsets, three driving licences, three Aadhar cards, five SBI ATM cards, three HDFC ATM cards, one AXIS Bank ATM card, one HDFC Bank ATM card, two voter ID cards, one PAN card and a sum of Rs. 50,520/- (fifty thousand five hundred and twenty only) were seized. 

In this regard, a case has been registered at NAB-PS for further investigation.
