Sikkim Nagrik Samaj submits a memorandum to the Gov calling for discussion on ONORC

Food Supplies or other rules should not override the provisions of the special law for Sikkim, the Article 371 F of the Constitution, the group said.

Gangtok: The Sikkim Nagrik Samaj on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Governor, Ganga Prasad calling for a review of the One Nation One Ration Card scheme implemented in Sikkim.
In the memorandum, it was mentioned that the scheme ‘warrants a discussion in the Legislative Assembly. Food Supplies or other rules should not override the provisions of the special law for Sikkim, the Article 371 F of the Constitution, the group said.
The group has suggested Inner Line Permit for the state, ‘ so that it doesn’t uncomfortable political and demographic situation. Absence of Inner Line Permit policy would have a catastrophic impact on the states demography, socio-economic situation, culture and even national security, the group said.
