Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad tests positive for coronavirus

At least 40 persons in Raj Bhavan were tested for infection on Tuesday, out of which 10 were reported negative, while Governor came out positive.

At least 40 persons in Raj Bhavan were tested for infection on Tuesday, out of which 10 were reported negative, while Governor came out positive.

However the First Lady Kamala Prasad has tested negative. Both of them had taken Corona vaccination recently. Report of 29 staff members including Chefs, waiters and controller would be given on Wednesday.

Reports said that Prasad, 85, tested positive after receiving both doses of the vaccine. While he received the first vaccine dose on March 3, the governor visited Bihar a day after receiving the second dose on April 9. He returned to Sikkim on April 15.

The governor took to social media about him testing positive and urged everyone who came in contact with him to test themselves or isolate themselves.

“I was having mild symptoms and tested positive for Covid-19 today. I request everyone who came in close contact with me over last few days to isolate themselves and get tested. I am stable and under the supervision of doctor at home isolation,” the governor wrote on Facebook. With agency inputs
