Imphal: A team of Kakching police arrested one person and seized 40 soap cases of heroin powder no. 4 weighing 470 gm on Thursday.
The arrested person has been identified as Md Abdul Malik, 47, son of Md Siraj Ahanad of Sora Mayai Leikai.
Police said the heroin powder was found concealed inside the modified fuel tank of an Alto Car B/regd no. MNO5A-4099 when the team was conducting frisking and checking at Pallel check post near Pallel police station in view of the upcoming 12th State Assembly election.
The arrested person along with the seized articles was handed over to Kakching Police Station for taking up further necessary legal action. A case has been registered at the same police station, said a press note from the PRO Manipur Police .
