Shillong: Nine new cases of COVID-19 infection added up to 138 active cases and one death due to the viral disease increased the number of fatalities to 1477, while 73 more cases of recovery surged te number of recovered cases to 83092 in Meghalaya on Tuesday, health officials said.
The death related to COVID-19 complications was reported from the East Khasi Hills, which, including state capital Shillong is the most pandemic-hit district with 114 active cases.
Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said the new COVID-19 cases detected Tuesday were eight in East Khasi Hills district and one in West Garo Hills district.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in other districts of the state have been on the decline with seven cases each in East Garo Hills and West Garo Hills, five cases in West Khasi Hills, three cases in East Jaintia Hills and one case each in Ri-Bhoi and West Jaintia Hills, while the North Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills had no active case, as per the latest official case count.
Meanwhile, of the 1233406 persons tested for COVID-19 in the state till Tuesday afternoon, 1148699 persons were tested negative for the virus, the state Covid dashboard revealed.
On the other hand, 32097 health care workers have been vaccinated with the first dose against COVID-19 and 29041 have been administered with the second dose, 96974 front-line workers have
got the first jab of the vaccine and 83601 have taken the second shot, even as 1071980 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 741597 citizens have been fully vaccinated with the second dose across the state till date, health officials said.
