Jiribam: Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Arvind Hanglem kicked off the district’s nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga (HGT) campaign this morning by flagging off a cycle rally from the Hijam Irabot Statue to the Echel Club.
Around 30 cyclists including local residents, students and security personnel, led by the district Superintendent of Police Shri Prakhar Pandey, took part in the opening event.
In a brief speech during the event, the Deputy Commissioner expressed gratitude to all participants, especially the youth, hockey players, police and other security personnel for their remarkable dedication and spirit in joining today’s Har Ghar Tiranga Rally amidst heavy rainfall.
“Though the rally was delayed by the weather, the rain could not dampen the patriotic spirit,” the DC added.
As part of the day’s programme, flag hoisting, singing of National Anthem and Tiranga rally were also conducted at Children Care Institutes in the district.
The 5th edition of nationwide HGT campaign begins on August 9 and will continue till August 17 as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The district’s campaign will also feature Vande Mataram Exhibitions in local schools on August 10, alongside Tricolour Rangoli decorations at the Lairembi and Gulamchat Children’s Homes for Girls on August 12.
All Government, Aided and Private schools within Jiribam are encouraged to decorate campus walls with Tiranga-inspired artwork, quotations of freedom fighters and excerpts from the National Song “Vande Mataram”.
As part of the campaign, citizens are also encouraged to hoist the national flag at their homes, private institutions and workplaces, and share their ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ pride on the Har Ghar Tiranga portal between August 9 to 17, 2026.
Today’s flagging of event was also attended by District Level Officers, Staffs and officials of the district administration.
