Narcotics smuggled from Myanmar seized in Manipur

An Assam Rifles official said during routine checking at Vehicle Check Post Khudengthabi, the troopers intercepted a vehicle on Thursday.

Imphal: The Assam Rifles has seized 228 grams of banned WIY tablets – a narcotics drug – which were being smuggled from Myanmar to India, in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district. One person, suspected to be a drug peddler was also nabbed.

An Assam Rifles official said during routine checking at Vehicle Check Post Khudengthabi, the troopers intercepted a vehicle on Thursday.

On thorough checking of the vehicle, a package containing 228 gms of WIY tablets was found concealed inside a personal bag being transported in the vehicle.

The seized narcotics were assessed to be worth Rs 10 lakhs. 

The seized narcotics along with the drug peddler were handed over to Moreh Police Station for further investigation.
