Kohima: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) of Nagaland has nominated 10 candidates for the coming Manipur Assembly poll.
According to an NPF press release, the party tickets were handed over by NPF President Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu at its Central Office in Kohima on Wednesday.
The ticket distribution ceremony was attended by Liezietsu, NPF legislature party leader T R Zeliang, legislators and senior party members from Nagaland and Manipur.
Addressing the gathering, Shurhozelie said NPF had received more applicants from willing candidates this time, but denying a party ticket to somebody did not signify that the person was not qualified.
The committee took various factors into consideration apart from the integrity, personality or capability of the individual candidates concerned. He hoped that those who were denied tickets would not misunderstand.
The party tickets were handed over to Langhu Paulhring Anal for Chandel Assembly Constituency (A/C), Dangsawa Korungthang Maring for Tengnoupal A/C, Leishiyo Keishing for Phungyar A/C, Ram Muivah for Ukhrul A/C, Khashim Vashum for Chingai A/C, Khoho Sule Anthony for Karong A/C, Losu Dikho for Mao A/C, M Francis Ngajokpa for Tadubi A/C, Awangbow Newmai for Tamei A/C, and Khangthuangnang Panmei for Tamenglong A/C.
Extending good wishes to the candidates, former Nagaland Chief Minister T. R. Zeliang expressed optimism that all the candidates would return to the Assembly and called upon the NPF activists to work together for the victory of the party candidates. He hoped that NPF will be the ‘kingmaker’ in the formation of the next Government in Manipur and said the party will soon finalize the time for the official start of the election campaign, the release said.
