Myanmar Beer, Korean wine seized in Manipur border

Imphal: Assam Rifles personnel on Friday seized liquor in the border area. 

About 63 cases of Myanmar Beer and 57 cases of Korean wine were recovered from a vehicle in the border area at Chandel district.

The seized liquor was assessed to be worth Rs 10.58 lakhs. Recovered items along with vehicle drivers were handed over to Tengnoupal PS for further action.

PLA ‘recruiter’ held

Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles, in a statement, Saturday said that its troops have nabbed one ‘recruiter’ belonging to the outlawed outfit,  People’s Liberation Army’ (PLA).

The recruiter, identified as Mantrimayum Tababa alias Pamuba Singh of Irengbam Awang Leikai, Nambol, allegedly tried to lure a 19-year-old youth from Wangjing, Thoubal, on the pretect of providing job in Tamu, Myanmar.

The recruiter who was under scanner for a long time was apprehended while he was attempting to surreptitiously transport the youth to Tamu, it said.
