New Delhi: India’s premier border guarding Force BSF on Monday said that on early Sunday morning, some miscreants who were trying to smuggle cattle from the Indian side to International Bangladesh Border Fence (INNF) fired at duty constable on the Border Out Post at Baramasia of 100 Battalion under Guwahati frontier.
According to Border Security Force (BSF), On February 21 morning duty Constable Raj Kumar noticed suspicious movement of 20-25 miscreants from Bangladesh side and 18-20 Miscreants on the Indian side along with cattle heads towards IBBF.
He immediately informed his superior ASI JM Khalko and to disperse the miscreants, he threw one Chilly Grenade towards them but despite the Chilly Grenade, the miscreants did not stop instead fired three to five rounds possibly from a .32 Pistol towards him from a distance of about 40 to 50 meters.
In self-defence Ct Raj Kumar fired one round towards the Indian miscreants, they managed to escape by taking advantage of foggy weather.
After the incident, the area was searched and recovered two (KF 7.65) live rounds fired by them and two empty cases and an FIR was lodged with the local police station of Sitalkucchi.
This was the second incident when the miscreants fired at BSF personnel on duty, the same type of firing incident took place on December 31 last year in the same locality in which the Force personnel nabbed two cattle smugglers and three- four rounds were fired at them from the country made fire arms, the BSF said.
