Imphal: The 12th session of “Meet the Press” was held today at the DIPR Auditorium, Imphal, organised by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR). The session featured the Directorate of Printing & Stationery, Government of Manipur, which highlighted its digital transformation initiatives, achievements and upcoming citizen-centric services.
Director of Printing & Stationery, Ng. Roben Singh, highlighted the Directorate’s achievement of becoming the first paperless Directorate in Manipur, with the full adoption of eOffice and digitally signed file movement, aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, efficiency and environment-friendly governance.
Key initiatives include eGazette Manipur, which provides real-time online access to official gazettes; PrintFlow 360, an end-to-end digital printing workflow with real-time monitoring; and biometric attendance with regular data monitoring to strengthen discipline and accountability.
The Director also highlighted the Directorate’s ongoing archival restoration project, aimed at recovering more than 881 missing gazettes and preserving the State’s administrative history. So far, 124 gazettes have been recovered, including 116 from the National Archives and 8 locally, while 41 gazettes have been reconstructed.
An upcoming AI-powered Gazette Search system is also being developed to facilitate faster and easier access to gazette records. The initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with NIELIT Manipur.
As part of its citizen-centric services, the Directorate is also facilitating private gazette publication for name changes, making the process simpler and more accessible to citizens.
He further stated that these reforms go beyond technological advancements and are aimed at building a governance system that is transparent to the public, accountable to the Government and accessible to citizens. He added that the initiatives are aligned with the broader vision of Digital India and Viksit Bharat.
During the interactive session, members of the press raised questions and exchanged views on the various initiatives and future plans of the Directorate.
The Directorate reiterated its commitment to further modernise its services, preserve the State’s administrative records and strengthen citizen access through digital governance.
