Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh Saturday assured to provide Rs one crore to Mirabai Chanu and a job in Manipur for winning a silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics.
Biren spoke to Mirabai and informed her that he will not yet announce the position she will be given. It will be a good one, he said.
Mirabai said she will continue to play for the nation and expressed gratitude to all who were behind her.
She said it was due to the support given by the people that she could get a medal in the Olympics.
Mirabai said she had worked hard for the Rio Olympics also but she could not cope with the pressure. This time she was fully concentrated in the task and the entire focus was to win for the country.
Meanwhile, congratulatory messages came from all parts of the country and the state.
