Churanchandpur: Krishna Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur today inspected the ongoing construction of the Specialized and Dedicated Health Unit for Women and Children at the complex of Lamka South TD Block, Khominthang, New Lamka.
Lamka South Block, recognized for its outstanding performance under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Blocks Programme, achieved a significant milestone by securing 1st position in the Delta Ranking in December, 2023. In recognition of this achievement and as part of continued efforts to strengthen healthcare services in the region, a Specialized Health Centre for Women and Children is being constructed in Lamka South Block. The foundation stone for the project was laid by Dharun Kumar S, IAS on 26th May, 2026 marking the beginning of a major initiative aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for women and children in the block. The facility is expected to enhance maternal and child health services and contribute to the overall well-being of the community. The centre will have labour room, immunization, basic medical checkup and it will basically focus on Women and Children.
At the site, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of the construction and directed officials to ensure quality standards and timely completion. The contractor assured the construction will take two more months to complete.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner also inspected the construction of a Multi- Purpose cum Indoor Stadium under Rural Electrification Corporation at Pearsonmun Village, Churachandpur where T. Khaikhomang, Chief of Pearsonmun was presence. The stadium is expected to boost sports infrastructures in the district, promoting youth development and community engagement.
In today’s inspection, the DC was accompanied by Thangboi Gangte, MCS, ADC Mualnuam & SDO Mualnuam, i/c BDO Lamka South TD Block and Jameson Hangshing, MCS, PD, DRDA & i/c BDO Lanva.
In a separate programme at the DRDA Office, Mini-Secretariat Campus, Tuibong, the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur handed over four steel display cabinets each to six tribal communities—Paite, Vaiphei, Gangte, Simte, Kom and Zou—intended to support tribal museums established under the aegis of the Manipur State Archaeology, Department of Art and Culture. These museums, built across several districts, were conceived as part of a wider initiative to preserve traditional artifacts, safeguard cultural identity and promote the arts and heritage of the state’s diverse tribal groups.
