Imphal: Manipur’s Water Resources Minister Letpao Haokip attended the 3rd Governing Body Meeting of NERIWALM at Guwahati on Thursday.
During his interaction with the Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who participated as the main guest of the event, Letpao highlighted various development programs being taken up by his department. The Minister also requested the Union Minister to release funds ‘in time’ for projects related to Water Resources for Manipur state.Â
Gajendra assured that his Ministry will ensure smooth release of funds always, and said that bringing development to the state has always been a priority from the Centre.
The meeting of NERIWALM was attended by Water Resources Ministers of all the states of the North East region. NERIWALM (or the North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management) is located in Tezpur, Assam, and is an Institute under the Department of Water Resources, RD and GB, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
